Construction Spending Sees Biggest Gain in 2 Years

The Commerce Department has released April’s construction spending data showing a surge of 1.8 percent, the largest increase since January 2016, after an unrevised 1.7 percent decline in March. Total Construction Construction spending during April 2018 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,310.4 billion, 1.8 percent above the revised March estimate of $1,286.8 billion. The April figure is 7.6 percent above the April 2017 estimate of $1,217.7 billion.
