Nestled in the Phoenix, Ariz. suburb town of Mesa stands Eastmark, a master-planned community dedicated to giving growing families a place to come together as an active community. It was only natural to give the grandparents of these families a place of their own to be close to loved ones, and AV Homes obliged considerably by creating Encore, the only community within Eastmark designed for the 55+ crowd. “AV Homes and Encore was a perfect complement to the family neighborhoods Eastmark already had created,” said Steve Snoddy, vice president of Sales for AV Homes.
The idea of adding the Encore community to Eastmark was born out of an increasing number of 55+ homebuyers who wanted to be closer to their children and subsequent grandchildren, but also be afforded the excellent amenities that Eastmark offers its residents such as a clubhouse, resort-style pool, spa, gym facility, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, bocci courts, and a billiard hall. Each home is more spacious than your average 55+ home and offers more open space for entertaining, parties, or just having room for the grandkids to play.
The floorplans in Encore were designed with an active lifestyle in mind for residents who love to open up their homes to guests and family—perfect for grandparents who invite their family over often. “AV Homes builds homes for all active lifestyles,” Snoddy said of the Encore homes. “Consumers who need more formal living or would rather entertain in an open great room layout can find the home of their dreams at Encore. While the homes offer flexibility to how people live, the homes also allow the option of adding sliding glass doors to the back entertaining areas to help pull the outside into the home to give a feel of a larger space for entertaining.”
Encore at Eastmark is close to many local amenities and attractions that makes life that much sweeter. The community is in close proximity to Highway 202 and the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, which is very convenient if you have family and friends coming from out of town to visit. Within a few miles of each doorstep, there are plenty of restaurants, retail stores, schools, and parks to prevail against even the worst case of boredom.
Encore offers four series of available floorplans for prospective homebuyers to choose from, each providing plenty of space for active living and amenities to make life comfortable; the names will make you think you are living the high life of Hollywood in the 30s. The Composer Series offers four available plans that start in the low $200s with 2 bedrooms, 2-2.5 baths, and range from 1,339 to 1,828 square feet. The Director Series offers four available plans that start in the mid $200s with 2-3 bedrooms, 2-2.5 baths, and range from 1,761 to 2,276 square feet. The Producer Series offers three available plans that start in the low $300s with 2-3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and range from 2,313 to 2,915 square feet. The Executive Series offers three available plans that start in the mid $300s with 2-4 bedrooms, 2.5-3.5 baths, and range from 2,625 to 3,205 square feet. All homes are only down the road from entertainment, mixed-use buildings, hospitality, and the civic and social corridor near the center of Eastmark.
The package deal residents of Encore enjoy also comes at an affordable price point with homes ranging between the low $200s to mid $300s. The community also offers residents flexibility in their lifestyles by keeping all of their preferred activities within reach. “The residents can also go across the street and enjoy The Great Park at Eastmark to spend time watching their grandchildren or take in a community concert,” Snoddy adds. “If our residents are golfers, the Valley offers unlimited golf courses to play so our residents have the flexibility to play anywhere and not be restricted to play one golf course.”
Of course, no new home these days is complete without a touch of green, and AV Homes has built a collection of homes that ensure its residents are enjoying comfortable living. Encore has been ENERGY STAR® suffused with energy efficient lighting and appliances as well as water-efficient plumbing and fixtures to reduce greenhouse gases by some 4,500 lbs. per house per year.
The insulation used is non-toxic, diminishes noise, and provides effective thermal barriers to keep the heat on the right side of the wall no matter the season, thereby saving in energy costs throughout the year. The windows use Low E technology to add another layer of the thermal barrier and stability. The roof sheathing includes a radiant barrier to reduce attic temperatures by up to 30°F, but still allows for moisture to escape in order to keep the roof area dry and cool. Residents can also escape the desert heat with impressive High SEER air conditioning units that use enviro-benign refrigerant to protect ozone health. All of these green features allow each homeowner to save money, live comfortably, and help the environment at the same time.
In addition to Encore, AV Homes has created a sister community in the East Valley known as Canta Mia, also catering to the 55+ crowd. “With Canta Mia in the West Valley and Encore in the East Valley, AV Homes is becoming a brand which has brought credibility in the valley and to our consumers. If a 55+ community is presented which works within our business plan and it meets a need in a particular part of the Valley, we will pursue the opportunity. In the meantime, we have two incredible 55+ communities with over 2000 home sites yet to sell which has us extremely excited for the future.”
