After retiring, those who settle into active adult communities want to be, well, active. They look for communities that will serve as more than a place to live, and search for a place to enrich their lives. K. Hovnanian’s newest 55-plus active adult community, Four Seasons at Sterling Pointe, offers sought after lifestyle amenities while providing a tight-knit community to peacefully settle into the golden years — making it the perfect choice for 50+ Builder’s “New Community of the Year.”
Opened in September 2011, Four Seasons at Sterling Pointe is not an original K. Hovnanian community. Unique to the other Four Seasons 55-plus communities by K. Hovnanian, Sterling Pointe was purchased from Sterling Properties — the original developer. Filled with 80 single-family homes that were already built and ready to be sold, it was acquired for an agreed upon price in April of the said year. These 80 single family homes are the community’s limited edition homes and are available in six different floor plans: Bonaire, Captiva, Martinique, Sanibel, Bonaire Loft and Captiva Loft that range in size from 1,849 to 3,405 square feet.
They are the first completed phase in Sterling Pointe’s community and the only homes that will be completed by Sterling Properties. The remaining phases are scheduled to be completely finished by 2013 and will be built by K. Hovnanian. When completely finished, Four Seasons at Sterling Pointe will have 165 homes: 140 single family detached homes and 25 townhomes.
While a small community, in comparison to some its neighboring 55-plus active adult communities, Four Seasons at Sterling Pointe is located in central New Jersey’s Somerset County in Franklin Township — a blossoming part of the nation for the 55-plus market. Home to many historical farms and homes from the 17th and 18th centuries as well as restaurants and golf courses, Franklin Township has been named by various publications as one of the nation’s best places to live, making it an appealing location to both K. Hovnanian and potential residents. “It has a similar active adult single-family community set-up to those in South Jersey. But, what’s unique about sterling pointe is that it’s a smaller community, only about 150 homes total. Sometimes there are communities with 1,000 homes and some people would rather be in a smaller, tight knit community,” explained Mulhall. He continued on to say, “The Somerset County location is very advantageous to the active adult prospect.” Near convenient access to major roadways, it has the serene country feel but is only minutes away from the busy city’s restaurants, shopping and other recreational activities.
Capitalizing on the emerging trend in today’s Baby Booming retired lifestyle of remaining active after work has become a habit of the past; Sterling Pointe has included a wealth of amenities and opportunities to enhance life after move-in.
