State grants $4.9M for Webster senior housing project

The state Department of Community and Housing Development has granted $4.9 million toward a $19.5 million plan to convert the historic A.J. Sitkowski School into 66 units of senior housing. The Boston developer for the project, Neighborhood of Affordable Housing Inc., said construction would likely begin in late summer or early fall and take about 14 months to complete. Philip Giffee, executive director of NOAH, said the next steps for the project are final construction drawings; assembly of complex financials; advertising the project for bid; and finalizing the complex legal construction loan closing.
