Boasting a Wide Variety of Energy Efficient Homes for Those 55+
David Weekley Homes offers 18 different floorplans for residents in all stages of life, from entry-level townhomes to lakeside custom homes to age-restricted homes
Founded in 1976 in Houston, Texas, David Weekley Homes has steadily grown into one of the largest privately held homebuilders in America with a footprint in 19 cities and 12 states including Texas, Florida, Colorado, Georgia, Arizona and Oregon, to name a few.
In 2012, the Johnson Development Corporation, a Houston-based, award-winning firm responsible for many of the top communities in Texas, selected David Weekley Homes as one of the core homebuilders for Viridian, a 2,000-acre master plan that includes five lakes and an abundance of open space teeming with wildlife located in Arlington, Texas.
A decade later and it’s come full circle for David Weekley Homes; they were among the first to build a home in the community and now they are among the last remaining builders to complete the community. Initially, the homebuilders only offered two product lines, but as the community continued to grow, they expanded to three product lines to better serve those looking to call Viridian home.
The builders offer a variety of single-family options in the community, including one- and two-story single-family homes with an additional age-restricted series for 55+ buyers. In the upcoming months, they will be launching Lakeside at Viridian, a higher density product line with lake views. Their Encore series, which targets 55+ homebuyers, recently opened a new phase with more than 160 homesites with an additional phase planned for the future.
With an offering of traditional single-family homes, an age-restricted line and a series of custom homes, David Weekley Homes has built the most product lines so far in Viridian and is projected to build more homes than any other builders in the community at completion.
With an emphasis on sight lines, traffic patterns, room placement, windows and light, the homes appear larger than what the actual square footage might suggest.” – Ken McDonald, Area President, David Weekley Homes
The homes in Viridian were inspired by the connections cultivated in a traditional neighborhood. Most of the homes have alley-entry garages, allowing for front porches and more sophisticated exteriors. The variety of homesite sizes and architectural styles create a unique streetscape. Pocket parks throughout the community encourage socializing amongst neighbors and gatherings reminiscent of those found in conventional neighborhoods.
Homes in Viridian offer timeless architecture and designs focused on creating open spaces with lines of sight and volume that are ideal for gatherings, while keeping functionality and flexibility in mind to allow the home to grow with residents. The builders worked with their preferred partners to install high-quality brands in each home for peace of mind. With an emphasis on sight lines, traffic patterns, room placement, windows and light, the homes appear larger than what the actual square footage might suggest.
Sustainable living is the heartbeat of Viridian, so it comes as no surprise that David Weekley Homes’ EnergySaver homes are built with the latest in energy-efficient building practices. Homes are equipped with high-efficiency tankless water heaters and HVAC systems. Each home is certified by Environments For Living and supported by the program’s heating and cooling energy usage guarantee.
In addition, the homes have one of the lowest HERS ratings in the market as they are 42% more energy efficient than homes built in 2006. The builders also implemented advanced framing techniques, using 2×6 exterior walls with deeper cavities to allow for thicker R-Value insulation and continuous foam insulated sheathing to increase the insulation on exterior walls.
David Weekley Homes currently offers 18 different floorplans, ranging from 1,700 square feet to 3,300 square feet of living space. Once the new Lakeside homes are complete, they will be offering an additional 14 floorplans in that series. With such a wide array of home size options, the houses in Viridian are priced from the $500,000s to $880,000s.
The community of Viridian offers plenty of amenities for all stages of life and homes for all residents, from entry-level townhomes to lakeside custom homes to age-restricted homes.
David Weekley Homes has been recognized as the Developer of the Year for Viridian by the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) in 2020 and 2022. The Magnolia Lifestyle Center at Elements at Viridian has been awarded the TAB Best Community Amenity in 2021. And while not a formal award, the 100,000th home closed by David Weekley Homes happened to be a home in the Viridian community in 2020.
The builders have also been recognized as the 2020 and 2021 Builder of the Year by the Dallas Builders Association.
